Denise in Chicago for a community cafe planning meeting with Rev. Reggie Weaver June 24th

Denise met with Rev. Reggie Weaver and members of the First Presbyterian Church in Woodlawn this Sunday to discuss a future community cafe. Their church has lots of land for community gardens and a perfect community hall with a stage for the cafe and a separate street front enterance from the church itself. I am not sure of the time line but am very excited for the project!! Woodlawn is a community coming back from some hard economic times and gang activity. It is also located just 3 blocks from the University of Chicago and on the edge of Hyde Park. Currently there is only one coffee shop in the neighborhood of Woodlawn and the future cafe is only 3 blocks from Hyde Park. Woodlawn itself is a food desert.
